Movie of the Year: 1975 – A New Season Begins!

Movie of the Year: 1975

A New Season Begins!

The Taste Buds are turning to 1975, and will now pick the 8 candidates for Movie of the Year!

Ready to hear three white guys use the phrase “they don’t make ’em like this anymore”? Wait, sorry, don’t stop reading yet. In many ways 1975 seems like an eternity ago, but it was actually a lot shorter than that. 1975 gave us the birth of the blockbuster with Jawrs, a movie about a shark that really has it where it counts: the jawrs. And it gave us the movie version of Ken Kesey’s most famous mescaline trip: One Flew Over This Cukoos Nerst. But what will this season of Movie of this Yearn give to you, the listener/reader?

I don’t know

I am just the guy that writes the website copy. Well, I’m Greg, but I think The Guy That Writes the Copy is a persona separate from Prime Greg? Who knows? You have to get comfortable with the not knowing, which incidentally is something the people of 75 really struggled with. The lack of clarity about what to believe, who to follow, and who to blame seems to have really been causing a lot of tension. Watch the movies, you’ll see, America was crazy at the time, and the way it convinced itself it got sane again–the 80s–made it even worse.

What’s tender in 1975?

I’ll let you know who is the tender king of this season, but 75 wasn’t an especially tender time. Also, I’m a busy guy; I have a whole life besides this (unless I am just a persona as discussed above).
