First Cow
The Taste Buds discuss 2020’s most tender movie, First Cow!
The Taste Buds can’t get enough of Kate from soon-to-be-released podcast, Movie I’d Like to Fix, so we brought her back to raise brows and talk cows. Movies love to be loud and in your face, but what if they were tender, and chill, and then maybe a little in your face at the end, admittedly? Enter First Cow, a movie about being so crazy out of place but still managing to find connection and freedom, even if it is only for just a spell.
Note: Kate is now fully aware she is too good for us and has begun to flex.
A beautiful movie, a gorgeous cow
I’m sitting here writing this and just thinking about how good this movie is. When I first saw the preview. I was like, “I want to see this.” And I had no idea what it was really, but it turns out I was totally right: it’s a great movie. Usually when we do a year on this show, we have decades of cultural conversation to help us contextualize everything, but with a movie that just came out you wonder more about its legacy because the whole thing stretches out before you. I dunno this movie just feels important with maybe even a capital I.
Cookie is wonderful
Cookie we all love you. You are tender and kind and exactly what this world needs so much of.
