NAPOLEON DYNAMITE THE ANIMATED SHOW

Who was clamoring for the Napoleon Dynamite cartoon? Seriously, someone tell me who in the world was excited for this? Eight years after the movie came out doesn’t exactly seem ripe for a huge fan base. They’ve been talking about it since the overhyped movie came out, and it has finally come to pass- with the entire original cast as the voices! Like that’s an actual selling point at fucking all, I’ve been super curious as to what the dude who played Uncle Rico has been up to. And now I know, he along with the rest of the cast, have been un-learning how to act and working hard at delivering lines in the worst, least funny way possible. There was absolutely no saving grace in this show. The jokes fell flat (when they were actually attempted), the animation style was grating, and what charm the movie had got stomped all over by the ‘wackyness’ of it being an animated show. The people who liked the movie enjoyed the understated quiet humor, and a plot of a hick underground fight club and acne cream that induces rage isn’t exactly in the same vein. The designed a show that is literally for no one, except those who really want a shittier version of Family Guy. I want to puke. -MG
