THE LION KING

VS.

MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL

FIGHT!

At first glance this is a pretty impossible choice.  This is practically the definition of apples vs. oranges as these two are so completely different.  Upon a deeper look though it’s pretty clear that Holy Grail wins out in the end.  This victory rests completely the aspect of quote ability.  Try and quote The Lion King.  I bet all you can think of is “Siiiiimbaaaaa” or “Hakuna Matata.”  If you can think of anymore then um, get out and have a social life dude.  Holy Grail on the other hand has ingrained itself in our popular culture.   How many times have you gone to a garden store, looked for a shrubbery and laughed yourself silly?  How many times have you introduced yourself by saying “There are those who call me….______?”  How many times have you been mortally wounded and exclaimed “It’s just a flesh wound?”  Answer: Every time.  Due to its dominance of our everyday conversations, Holy Grail is the clear winner here.  Also Holy Grail isn’t irresponsible enough to suggest that stampeded parents can come back in the clouds to guide their kids.  Fuck you for making orphans cry, Disney. – ASW

RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK

VS.

PULP FICTION

FIGHT!

This one is tough because they are both quite good. On the one hand Raiders of the Lost Ark is part of a great series and I enjoy repeat viewings of those movie, but Pulp Fiction is IMO the best movie made by Quentin Tarantino with a soundtrack that changed my life.  The difference is that I rarely want to watch Pulp Fiction as much as I want to listen to the soundtrack, so while I appreciate the movie in theory, I begrudgingly admit that at this moment I would probably rather watch some fun Indiana Jones adventures. – LF
