Movie of the Year: 1975 Bonus – Death Race 2000

Movie of the Year: 1975

Death Race 2000

The Taste Buds discuss the low-budget classic Death Race 2000!

The Taste Buds are continuing their trek through 1975, and there was just too many movies to fit everything into the bracket. So throughout the 1975 season, some of the Taste Buds are doing bonus shows of movies that didn’t quite make the elite 8, but still deserve to be talked about. This week, the Friends turn their sights to Death Race 2000, the low-budget classic from Roger Corman’s production house! Join Movie of the Year panelists Greg, Mike, and Ryan, along with PopFilter veteran Taylor Wilhite, as they break down the greatest prediction of what the year 2000 would be like.

In the year 2000, the country is run by a fascist dictator who keeps his citizens happy by creating the Death Race, a race across America, where the drivers rack up points for the different types of people they murder along the way. Those drivers include Frankenstein, played by David Carradine, just after he finished Kung Fu, and Machine Fun Joe Viterbo, played by a pre-Rocky Sylvester Stallone. Throughout the race, the movie tackles just about every theme you can, from terrible governments to the terrible media! Join the Taste Buds, as they decide if this ’75 fun, or kind of a drag!
