Movie of the Year: 1991 – Premiere Part 2
Movie of the Year: 1991
Premiere Part 2
Which of these 1991 movies will be the Movie of the Year?
We are back with even more bracket to help us pick the movies for the 1991 season of Movie of the Year! Silence of the Lambs, Boyz n the Hood, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Hook — some of these may move on, some may be voted out, but all will be shouted about. Because this isn’t like naming your kid: it’s a big decision. (That’s just an example.) You can’t just think of your favorite comic book character and pick a name here. (Again, random example.) No, you have to actually think about it and come up with the eight movies that best represent the year 1991 and, much more importantly, the state of cinema in 1991.
’91 was a different time, in some ways better, but that’s mostly because this is the worst possible time in the worst possible timeline, so basically any time randomly selected is guaranteed to be better. Is that a slight exaggeration? I’m going to go with no because once I say something, even if it was totally off the cuff and unconsidered, I will then fight to the death to prove to myself that I am right to believe that thing I just randomly said in an offhand way.
It was a magical time full of promise and wonder and we have to go back. We can’t though. We can only move forward. Because we are podcasters, and bravely moving into the future is all we know how to do. All of that, and somehow more, on an all-new Movie of the Year!
