Best Live-Action Manga of All Time?
It's finally time for the One Piece podcast! The Taste Buds have finally worked up the nerve, and found the time, to watch, Netflix's late summer hit, and are ready to tell the world what they think. Manga doesn't often make the jump to live action, therefore it doesn't often appear on the podcast. Does that mean the Taste Buds are going to be in the dark? Or is this going to open up a whole new world for them?
What is One Piece?
One Piece tells the story of Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat pirates, as they search for the One Piece, a treasure that will make Luffy the King of the Pirates. Once King, Luffy will...wear a crown or something. I don't know. But here's what we do know: one of the crew members is played by Emily Rudd, and she's not related to Paul. Also, one of the crew members is played by Sonny Chiba's son, and he is related to Sonny Chiba.
Will There Be a Second One Piece Podcast?
Unfortunately, there's still a writer's strike going on, so not much movement has been made on that front. But we have heard that the scripts are ready to go into production as soon as the actors and writers get back to work!
Did They Talk About Anything Other Than One Piece?
Then, the Taste Buds move on to the Pull List, where they talk about every other comic book show that came out this week. Light week this week, as the sole member of the pull list is The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. Is The Walking Dead back? We'll see!
What is the One Piece of Spider-Man?
Finally, they head to S-TASmania to watch the fourth episode of Spider-Man: The Animated Series! Mrs. Hardy has cut off the research money to a local scientist. Unfortunately, that scientist is named Otto Octavius, aka Doctor Octopus! When he kidnaps Mrs. Hardy's daughter Felicia, will Peter Parker be able to get his sweater with turquoise stripes off fast enough in order to change into Spider-Man and stop him? Only the Taste Buds know the answer to that.
