The Superhero Show Show #389: Who Watches the Watcher?
The Superhero Show Show #389
Who Watches the Watcher?
It’s the premiere of Marvel’s What If..?, plus the season premiere of Stargirl, on an all-new episode of The Superhero Show Show!
On a very special episode of The Superhero Show Show, Mike and Ryan are focusing on the debut of Peggy Carter: Super-Soldier, on the series premiere of What If…? Mike and Ryan are lifelong fans of the comic book series of the same name…but those comics are about the 616. Does the MCU have the lore to start creating its own alternate dimension stories? And how do (most of) our favorite actors take to voice acting the characters they made famous? Tune in to see how the first animated series of the Fiege TV era turned out!
But before that, Mike and Ryan are breaking from the rules a little bit (probably because Cassie isn’t here) and discussing a comic book-based…MOVIE!?! That’s right: apparently, more than just television shows can be based on comic books, and this week they’re discussing James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. Will Gunn do a better job with the material than David Ayer? And will Mike and Ryan be able to look past their OBVIOUS Marvel leanings to give The Suicide Squad a fair review?
Then Mike sits down with Jay Sherer, Chief Storyteller of The Reclamation Society! After meeting Jay at a Comic Con years ago, the two catch up on the Reclamation Society’s projects including Star Wars: Rivals, Death of a Bounty Hunter, The Story Geeks podcast, and The Story Geeks video series! Plus the history of geek vs nerd, world building, and of course, the speed round!

All of that, plus discussions on every other comic book-based television show of the week, including season premieres of Titans and Stargirl, along with the return of Riverdale, the penultimate Superman and Lois, and just a regular old Legends of Tomorrow about cosmic bowling. Don’t miss out on what is probably the best non-Cassie podcast of the year!
