Dry The River

This is a British Folk-Rock band which falls squarely in the neo-folk indie style that is all the rage these days.  The main thing you will notice is that lead singer Peter Liddle sounds very much like Brandon Flowers, but with a little more earnestness, occasionally conjuring up a Robert Smith-like voice.  The music behind ranges from folky acoustic strumming to a full band rock sound, with a whole lot of everything in between.

They've gotta get to the Enchantment By The Sea Dance and make his mom fall in love with his dad QUICK!

Their videos thus far are kinda weird, in a good way…I think.  When I’ve watched them, I always end up with my head curiously half cocked with what I can only guess is a look of confusion on my face…not so much as to activate my music video ADD, but enough to keep me staring at the screen, absorbing their songs and hoping the video will make sense at the end.

This one’s a mid melodramatic but has some fantastic, beautiful images…and, for some reason, a chainsaw cameo.

This one’s got a person cameo and bunch more cool images and sung with some real dynamic vocal work.

They’re on tour all around the world this summer, playing festivals in Europe and the US, including Lollapalooza in Chicago in early August. They make some fun tour diaries when they are on the road, the best of which includes an appearance at the Sasquatch Music Festival at the Gorge in Washington and very short and funny ditty about being in a Wal-Mart parking lot at 7am.

I strongly urge you to listen to a few songs and maybe even go to itunes and  get the whole album, Shallow Bed, which came highly recommended to me…albeit from some random young lady I met at a show recently.  She seemed nice…and had good taste in music…my downfall. Good thing I didn’t get her number or anything…

Looks deep to me.
