Mike got to sit down with Chapman Presidential Fellow and living legend  Carolyn Forche! Carolyn Forche is a poet, editor, translator, human rights activist, professor, and all around badass. Her poetry collections include Blue Hour, The Angel of History, The Country Between Us, Gathering the Tribes, and the forthcoming, In the Lateness of the World. She has edited and co-edited numerous anthologies, translated several works of poetry, and has more awards and honors than can be listed, including fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the Lannan Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts. She is also known for coining the term “poetry of witness.” 

Carolyn and Mike discuss her upcoming memoir, what she has learned after spending decades writing and teaching around the world, and why optimism is dangerous.
