#485: The American Born Chinese Finale

The Superhero Show Show #485

The American Born Chinese Finale

The Taste Buds are discussing the final episodes of American Born Chinese, plus a discussion of 2013’s The Wolverine, on an all-new episode of The Superhero Show Show!

It’s an all-new, all-different episode of The Superhero Show Show, and it’s a Katelynn-and-Ryan-messaround! The dynamic duo kick off the show by celebrating some huge news: we’re getting one more season of a CW superhero show. From there, the Taste Buds review the final three episodes of American Born Chinese, and an overview of the entire season. They’ve been diligently slow playing the show, waiting to see how all of the disperate storylines connect! Will Ke Huy Quan’s character meet Michelle Yeoh’s, and have an EEAOO reunion? Will Jin get to fight like a heavenly superstar? Will Jin’s parents patch things up and get to use magic? You probably already know the answers to these questions, so tune in and find out what Ryan and Katelynn thought of everything!

Next, since it is a super light week of television, the Taste Buds introduce the newest segment, Katelynn’s Blind Spots! Katelynn is a young lil movie baby, and has a lot to catch up on. And for whatever reason, she decided to start on her path with 2013’s The Wolverine. Released in the midst of the second X-Men trilogy, The Wolverine is a mostly forgotten, fairly underrated superhero movie that plays almost as much of a drama/mystery as it does an action movie (especially if you ignore the very dumb final 20 minutes). Check-in to see if the Taste Buds recommend going back and checking this movie out!

All of that, plus a very short discussion on the only other show this week, Fear the Walking Dead. It’s far too much show!

Also, don’t forget to:

While Americans overwhelmingly support the right of an individual to make their own decisions about abortion, unfortunately, that right is no longer protected everywhere in the U.S.

The Supreme Court overturned Roe versus Wade on June 24th.

Abortion is a basic healthcare need for the millions of people who can become pregnant. Everyone should have the freedom to decide what’s best for themselves and their families, including when it comes to ending a pregnancy. This decision has dire consequences for individual health and safety, and could have harsh repercussions for other landmark decisions.

Restricting access to comprehensive reproductive care, including abortion, threatens the health and independence of all Americans. Even if you live in a state where abortion rights are upheld, access to safe medical procedures shouldn’t be determined by location, and it shouldn’t be the privilege of a small few.

You can help by donating to local abortion funds. To find out where to donate for each state, visit donations4abortion.com.
